The Goldfaber 1221 is Faber-Castell's everyday graphite pencil for drawing, sketching and writing — the pencil most students start with, and the one most studios keep a box of.
6B is very soft and very dark — for deep shadow, quick tonal blocks and expressive sketching. It smudges readily, which is useful when you want to blend and a nuisance when you do not.
