Eraser Type
Description
An eraser pen holds a thin stick of eraser in a click mechanism, and it exists for the work a block eraser simply cannot do: lifting out one line, one letter, or a highlight inside a shaded area without disturbing anything around it.
Treat the refills as a consumable rather than an accessory: the stick is the part that runs out, and a pen with no spare in the drawer is a pen that stops in the middle of a drawing. Advance only two or three millimetres at a time, too — a long exposed length levers against the paper and snaps at the collar, which is by far the most common way these get broken.
This is the 600S body supplied with two refills. Mechanically every click eraser works the same way; what actually differs between models is the grip and how firmly the collar holds the stick — a loose collar lets the eraser retract into the barrel under pressure, which is the difference between a useful pen and an annoying one.
- Click mechanism with a thin eraser stick
- Erases a single line without touching the work around it
- Advance 2-3 mm at a time so the stick does not snap
- Keep spare refills — the stick is the consumable
